About Rick
June 5th, 2007 by RickRick is the product of a lifetime of watching cartoons and reading Kafka.
Rick is married. He and his wife, Maureen, are the proud parents of very cute 3-year-old boy and an adorable one-month old baby boy.
Rick listens to a wide variety of music, but tends to like things that are loud and/or offensive.
Rick likes bats. He installed a bat-house on the west wall of his abode about four years ago, but no bats have taken up residence … yet.
Rick has been certified by Sun Microsystems to program in Java, versions 1.2 and 1.4. He has been programming in Java since 1998 when he got his first Java Programmer certification.
Rick programs in other languages like Perl, C/C++, and PHP without the benefit of certification. He even writes scripts in Kornshell.
Rick has designed a couple of database schemas in his time. He appreciates the benefits of normalization, but sometimes holds back if conditions warrant. He is certainly not DBA material, but does know a bit of SQL and has some experience in data modeling.
Rick thinks he knows his way around Unix and Linux, but it took him a heckuva long time to get his mailserver running correctly. He’s still not sure he trusts it …
Rick can’t read music or hold a tune to save his life. Rick has a tin ear.
Rick tweaked the WordPress Orange Theme for the Stabile-dot-org blog you see here.
